Circular Heavy Duty Magnets
AMBICA Circular Lifting Magnets are of sturdy construction, guaranteeing extreme reliability and safety in toughest working conditions. These circular magnets are intended for all-purpose use, but are suitable in particular for handling bulk material of awkward irregular shape, such as pig iron, scrap, swarf and the like. Optimum dimensioning of magnetic poles and cross sections of iron components, combined with high magnetic flux produced by the exciter coil ensure outstanding lifting capacity in relation to magnet dead weight. In this way, load-carrying capacity of the crane is used to the full, and a high rate of handling is achieved.
The magnet body is cast of high-grade dynamo steel of high permeability and maximum toughness. Shells of Lifting Magnets are made from high permeability Steel Casting as per IS: 449 (BSS- 1617), properly machined, to provide the most efficient Magnetic Circuit. The periphery of the magnet is heavily ribbed to give added mechanical strength and an increased radiation surface to aid cooling. Center & Outer Poles are machined from high permeability Magnet Steel with Cored recesses arrangement to protect heads of through tensile bolts. The faces of poles from spigot joints in Magnet shell, the outer poles of larger Magnets are skirted for added protection. The pole shoes are easily replaceable.
TERMINAL BOX is designed to ensure protection whilst in operation and are of double entry type enabling the leads from the coils to be sealed in a separate cavity. The outside cable is brought through a gland into this second compartment ensuring no possibility of moisture entering the windings.
BUMPING PLATES are of high grade Manganese Steel Casting as per IS - 276 with heavy ribs for added strength. These are clamped in position by the center and outer poles offering complete protection to the coil. The magnets are suspended with three legged STRING CHAINS made of best quality forged steel terminating in a forged ring. A two core cable is provided for connection with the supply and suitable Insulated plug and socket ensure easy operation.
The standard three-fall chain suspension with common suspension ring has been dimensioned to suit all normal duty loads. To handle extreme weights, special chains are available at extra cost. Two lugs for guide ropes are fitted as standard. For attachment of the supply cable, magnets are fitted with one solidly constructed cable clamp which effectively prevents cables from being pulled out. For connection of the supply cable the standard model magnet is fitted with metal-clad plug & socket two pole + earth, additionally protected by a cast-steel cover.
DUTY FACTOR : The permissible relative duty factor is 75%/10 mins. or 60%/10 mins. depending on magnet construction and application. Magnets for extra heavy duty or handling of hot materials are available on request.
